Steps To An Optimistic Lifestyle
Your outlook on life predicates the way others view you and more importantly, how you see yourself. When you have a positive outlook on life, it helps to make the best of every situation. We should all acknowledge the bright side and focus on healthy, happy habits.
Start the morning with spiritual discipline
- The smartest and most important way to start the day is alone time with God. Morning prayer, devotion, and meditation are vital for spiritual growth and overall happiness. When you thank God and rededicate your day back to Him, He will bless.
Be grateful for what you have
- We have all heard the quote, "The grass is always greener..." The reality is if you were cultivating your lawn, you would be too busy to notice anyone else's yard! Whatever you are blessed with in life, thank God for it.
Love yourself, flaws and all
- A colossal part of the problem with self-love is; people do not take time to acknowledge their shortcomings. Impatience, lack of trust, overthinking; the little things you plan to work on overtime, love yourself through the process. You will be glad you did.
Let go of mental weights
- Address and overcome the obstacles that stop you from being your best self. If you struggle with human comparison or depression, take some time to identify the root of the problem. Then, take steps to let go of things that are out of your control.
Differentiate critics, and people who want what is best for you
- Communicate with mentors regularly. The people who want what is best for you have most likely been where you are headed. The leaders in your life have sound advice and guidance. Critics are interested in what you are doing so they can tell you all the ways you cannot achieve success. The sad part is, you can barely tell them apart if you are not careful. Surround yourself with people you trust.
Do not try to please others
- They say childhood ends the minute you start caring what people think. So take it from this twenty-six-year-old child, whatever makes you wholeheartedly you, unapologetically embrace it. If you are not into what is trending, pass it up, trends come and go. Stick to what you love, and you will always be happier.
Make time for face to face interactions
- Once a week, try to meet up with someone you love. No phones, no distractions, just be together. It does not even have to cost a lot of money! Keep it casual and enjoy the company of others.
Value experiences
- Whether it is a blessing or a lesson, enjoy it. Experiences make us stronger, and once we can understand the underlined meaning of our lesson, we will be happier we have added to our character.
