My Thanksgiving Contribution
This is how I do Thanksgiving. Round one: I have a scoop of everything there is to offer, greens, beans, potatoes, ect. Rounds two through Sunday: yams are the highlight of my meal and I accompany them with dressing, mac & cheese, and some occasional pieces of turkey. So this year I decided to create my favorite side dish myself.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes
Ingredients:
- 4 pounds of peeled + cut sweet potatoes
(Let’s be honest, we are all v busy around this time of year so you can also get 4 cans of Sugary Sam’s Sweet Potatoes from the grocery store and no one will know the diff.)
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 stick of salted butter
- 1 tbs of cinnamon
- 1 tbs of nutmeg
- 1 tsp of vanilla
Directions:
Toss these ingredients in a pot and cook them on medium heat for 40 minutes occasionally stirring + taste-testing until the chunks are melt-in-your-mouth tender. Take them to your in-laws and watch the fam go back for seconds and thirds.
