The Hottest Commodity
Ephesians 5: 15-16 English Standard Version
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time because the days are evil.
Time is the most valuable concept we have. It is the vital system on which we as humans operate. As people mature, the majority of us realize we cannot spend time frivolously. You make time for prayer + devotion. You make time for the ones you love. You also make time for hobbies and events that are important to you. When it comes to time, we all have the luxury of possessing it, but are we wasting it?
Minutes, hours, days
If you are anything like me, you plan your day almost to the second. Some days I beat the alarm and get an even earlier jump start on tasks that need handling. As particular as I am about my day, there are a few factors that can unintentionally slow us down. Traffic and unmet deadlines may seem frustrating at first, but it could be a blessing in disguise.
Pro tip: The key is not to complain about time, but to thank The Lord for his protection in the midst of situations outside of your control.
Philippians 3:13-14 ESV
...But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Past, Present, Future
Have you ever met a person stuck in the glory days? It is borderline pathetic to watch someone relive old college basketball memories or reflecting on what could have been. The past is the past, solidified and sealed. All we have is this present moment, and while the Just Aneisaa family is quite thrilled you are investing your moment in this article; there are others trading his present moment for a seemingly endless stream of other people's past "picture-perfect" moments. Every time you take a scroll down Instagram lane, do not forget all posts are events or thoughts that have already occurred, and you need to unplug and make your own positive memories as well. The future, the future is my favorite. As scary and unpredictable as it seems, the future is where the potential lies. If we eat right and exercise daily, then we are headed in the right direction for a healthy physical lifestyle in the future. If we waste our present time by eating junk food and never leaving the couch, the future will be strenuous, maybe even expensive and painful. A great future is the perfect blend of two components, mindset + followthrough.
Matthew 24:36 King James Version
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of Heaven, but my Father only.
Life and eternity
One of my favorite early 2000s, Christian bands, had a song called Going Crazy. The song contained some of the most powerful lyrics I have ever heard, "Can't push stop 'cause my life is recording." For some reason, that one line always stuck with me. Today, I could not tell you much about the members of the band or even the other songs on that album, but the lyric is bone-chilling. I always refer to those words when I think about taking a new step in life. In this, You Only Live Once or YOLO mindset we are living in, remember, we only die once. We live every day, so make each moment count- for Christ. Spend your daily time wisely to not only ensure you have a spiritually healthy lifestyle but to ensure you have a place in Heaven's eternity when this life is over.
