Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers
One of my go-to appetizers is the simple, yet incredibly delicious jalapeño popper. Poppers provide me with everything I need before a full meal; they're spicy, creamy, and cheesy. This recipe will bless you with a dozen poppers baked to perfection for any party or pregame snack.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Yields: 12 poppers
Ingredients:
- 12 jalapeño peppers, 3-4 inches long
- 12 slices of thinly cut bacon
- 8 oz of cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup of cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp of onion powder
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/ tsp of pepper
- cooking spray
- toothpicks
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400°
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper or foil wrap
Gloves are recommended when handling peppers; I learned the hard way.
- Cut jalapeños in half lengthwise, and scoop out the seeds
The spice is determined by the number of seeds you leave in the pepper.
- In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, onion powder, salt, and pepper
- Fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture
- Lay bacon slices on a cutting board horizontally and cut them in half
- Wrap each pepper in a slice of bacon, using a toothpick to secure the pepper
- Arrange the peppers on a baking sheet + bake for 20-25 minutes until the bacon is brown and crispy
- Serve immediately
You cannot go wrong with this appetizer! Jalapeño poppers are perfect for a grab + go stroll around the living room at the dinner party. These bad boys will be devoured in seconds. They are so simple this recipe can easily be doubled for more spicy, creamy, delicious fun.
